Chromatistes is a forty minute piece of sound made up of several movements, the music explores the full range of Einstellung’s sonic palette, using repetition and gradual variation; motorik beats and lush chords are augmented with ambient space rock. The music is structured so that when played on a loop, the listener will experience the intended infinite nature of the track.
Einstellung explain the inspiration behind Chromatistes:
The name Chromatistes comes from the book ‘Flatland’, Chromatistes is a hexagonal character living in a two dimensional world. Chromatistes painted his sides different colours in attempt to show other characters that there is life above and beyond two dimensions. Einstellung in turn have worked with the notion that the fourth dimension may well be ‘time’. Through the use of repetition and heavy dynamics the music lends an ear to the paradoxes of the fourth dimension.
